Quick Update

bilyfoster | June 26th, 2009 - 11:28 pm

Okay, wow what a hell of a week. I have quite a few reviews that are in process and hope to get written up this weekend. I am testing out my newly hacked iPhone 3g running 3.0 and I am in love with the iPhone all over again.

So I’ve got the iPod touch G2 to write up about, as well as this AWESOME case I picked up for it. I have a couple of apps to write up about, and my new obsession 1 vs 100 Live on xBox. If you haven’t tried it I highly recommed checking it out.

In the mean time, I can’t stop being giddy over the upgrades of 3.0. And while MMS may not be one of the biggest deals to anyone else but it’s great for me. My family members have Motrola Razors and we haven’t been able to send pictures until yesterday.

In fact, I am writting this update via my iPhone in landscape mode as a test to how well I can use this as my mobile bloging device. (it makes me want the GS so much more…) But I must be patient, still learning to walk in the world of objective C. But Tic-Tac-Toe is just start. Next is Global Thermo Nuclear War ;)

3.0 on Gen 1 iPhone

bilyfoster | June 20th, 2009 - 12:32 am

pineapple_biggerOkay running 3.0 has been great, though there have been a couple of downers.  The first really isn’t that big of deal, the tethering was more hopeful than anything.  I had it on a WinMo phone so I figured that iPhone even on Edge would tether, but alas, no option for tethering even at Edge speed.  This BIGGEST disappointment was to find out the Bluetooth A2DP doesn’t work on the first Gen.  In other words I can’t use my the Bluetooth Headset/Headphone’s I’ve been waiting forever as Headphone’s for my iPhone.  Of course they are still a great headset (the Motorola HT820) and they work awesome with my iPod touch 2nd Generation, which DOES have the A2DP support now with the 3.0 upgrade.

Voice Memos was a take it or leave it, I would have found it more useful if it could record a call.  Now for the good news, being able to do text message in landscape is WONDERFUL :D .  I like to keep my iPhone in the Flexdock and it would be cool if the Phone and Weather App also worked in Landscape, but now I’m just being selfish.  Maybe next go round they will add landscape to Maps, iTunes/Apps Store, Voice Memos, and the phone.

If you’ve got MobileMe the find MyPhone feature is awesome, it’s great that it works on all 3.0 systems.  The ability to send messages to the iPod is really fun.

Trying to get MMS to work on T-Mobile however I’m not sure where to put the settings.

MMSC URL http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
WAP gateway 216.155.165.50
Port:8080

But I can’t find where to put them, grrr anyone else know?

Waiting for ultrasn0w

bilyfoster | June 19th, 2009 - 9:32 am

pineapple_biggerWhile AT&T customers are waiting in line to pickup the latest and greatest iPhone 3GS, I’m anxiously waiting the release of ultrasn0w.  I can’t wait to get my Gen 1 iPhone on 3.0 so I can test out which of the features work on T-Mobile.  As soon as I know I’ll post what works, what doesn’t and how cool 3.0 is ;)

Update : Screw Olive Garden

bilyfoster | June 18th, 2009 - 1:33 pm

Update: Olive Garden backtracks on David Letterman ads check out the latest from Politico.  Sounds like they are just trying to squirm out of the situation they put themselves in.

NoOliveGardenI can’t believe they would pull their support for David Letterman over the Palin thing.  So screw Olive Garden, no longer will I be visiting your “family”. Check out the story from Politico.
